Petroleum Bribery Case (Abdul Mon'em Zayed and Badr Al Din)
One of the most important cases tackled in the newspapers is Petroleum Bribery with accusations directed by the public prosecutor to the person in charge of Badr Al Din Petroleum Co., Mohamed Abdul Mon'em Zayed et. Al, they received and requested bribery amounting 5 million, four hundred and seventeen thousand and eight hundred and nineteenEGP. An amount of seven million, eight hundred and ninety thousand and twenty three EGP as bribery in return for assigning the other accused persons therewith in supplying technicians and equipment to the company where he works for the Petroleum sector companies from Petromint company to the other accused companies, with accepting workmen and equipment supplied. As well as the rapidness in completing the procedures of payment of financial dues arising out of these operations toward these accusations. Abdul Mon'em Zayed found no one more famous or efficient than Dr. Mohamed Hamoda to defend thereof before Criminal Court. Dr. Mohamed Hamoda insisted on summoning all witnesses and asked them before the court. The pleading of Dr. Hamoda lasted for three consecutive days with more than 20 hours. During these hours, he previewed weakness of condemnation evidence and the conflict in witnesses’ statements, who were summoned by the public prosecutor. Many newspapers recorded this great plea of Dr. Hamoda through which he clarified the acquittal of the accused. The case is still before the criminal court to consider thereof.
