Dispute between Oils and Petrochemicals Company Groups with the State
Many major companies working in the field of importing oils and petrochemicals in the different Egyptian terminals on the Red Sea and the Mediterranean encountered many problems with the State, such as PetroChem owned by Engineer/ Majed Shafik, Eagle Group, Alexandria Chemicals and United Oil-Processing and Packaging. That is to say, the State unexpectedly issued arbitrary resolutions to increase the usufruct return and fees imposed on such companies of more than 1500%. Then, the group of major companies resorted to famous Dr. Mohamed Hamoda to settle this dispute. He held many expanded meetings with officials of the State and competent ministers. In parallel with such meetings, Dr. Hamoda submitted many urgent challenges before courts of Council of State against the arbitrary State resolutions to suspend executing them and abolishing them retrospectively since their issuance in 2016.
